HIVAMAT Lymphedema System
HIVAMAT is a state-of- the-art deep oscillation device that soothes pain and relaxes muscles with minimal treatment pressure while your RehabXcel therapist uses the traditional Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) technique. MLD allows for improved lymphatic flow and the elimination of toxins from your body. We use this system in addition to therapy to help with fibrosis breakdown, improve circulation and wound healing, and promote lymphatic health.Often used by baseball, basketball, and football athletes to help reduce the pain and swelling of sports injuries, the HIVAMAT Lymphedema System offers many benefits, not the least of which is that it can be used immediately following surgery to improve sensitivity and activity, as well as hasten open wound healing (e.g. ulcers, burns, amputations).
The HIVAMAT system is also effective in treating sinus irritation, headaches, earaches, facial pressure, and other symptoms of sinusitis. It has the ability to disperse waste and proteins that are associated with sinusitis, then direct its flow out of the sinus cavities, thereby relieving pressure, headaches, or ear irritation. Other benefits to the application of deep oscillation therapy to the face are the reduction of puffy eyes, bruising, earaches (Meniere’s Disease), migraines, and edema after facial plastic surgery.
Pneumatic Flexion-Distraction Table
Flexion distraction is a technique used by chiropractors that involves the use of mobilization of various body parts and slow manual traction to treat different forms of pain in the back, neck, legs, or arms. At RehabXcel, we use a flexion distraction table to relieve pain caused by everything from herniated discs and spinal stenosis to back pain due to pregnancy and more.
Our flexion table is designed to be effective with slow and controlled movements. This enables our therapists to manipulate a patient’s body by moving portions of the table as opposed to a predominantly hands-on approach requiring physically manipulating the patient’s limbs and torso.
LiteGait® Suspension System For Ambulation
This training device simultaneously controls weight bearing, balance, and posture either over ground or over a treadmill, thereby creating the perfect solution for treating patients with a wide range of impairments and functional levels. Its unique harness design allows for unilateral or bilateral support so that your RehabXcel therapist can manually assist the legs and pelvis to achieve proper gait patterns. It also provides frontal, sagittal, and transverse plane postural control for ideal rehabilitative purposes.
Cold Laser Treatments
Cold laser therapy is a low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light. The technique is referred to as “cold” laser therapy because the levels of light are too low to heat your body’s tissue.
During this painless and noninvasive procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. Your body tissue absorbs the light, and the near-infrared light causes a reaction to which the damaged cells respond, thus promoting regeneration. Typically, each cold laser treatment only takes a few minutes to perform.
At RehabXcel, we use cold laser therapy to repair tissue and provide relief from pain and inflammation from minor injuries and sprains, such as bursitis, knee pain, ligament sprains, lower back pain, muscle strains, neck pain, tendonitis, tennis elbow, and pain associated with muscle spasms. It’s also used to help reduce swelling and promote the healing of joints and soft tissue, as well as a therapy for acute or chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome. Cold laser therapy is also used to treat difficult-to-heal wounds, including wounds related to diabetes.
Aquatic Therapy
As another part of our comprehensive approach to rehabilitation excellence, RehabXcel offers aquatic therapy in our own comfortable, heated, accessible pool. In fact, we are the area’s only therapy team that offers aquatic therapy programs.
Studies have shown that aquatic therapy can promote a more complete and quicker recovery, as well as effective relief and rehabilitation for a variety of disorders including:
- Arthritis
- Athletic injuries
- Chronic Pain
- Disequilibrium
- Fibromyalgia
- Joint replacements
- Neck and back pain
- Orthopedic problems
- Pregnancy and post-mastectomy issues
- Scoliosis
In a pool, a patient’s body weight is decreased, reducing stress on weight-bearing joints like the lower back, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. This allows motion soon after an injury or surgery, which helps increase strength, range of motion, flexibility, and endurance as early as possible.
In addition, our pool’s heated water relaxes muscles and promotes range of motion. The pressure of the surrounding water helps circulation and can reduce swelling, decrease tenderness, and also improve range of motion. Finally, the water increases resistance in all directions, creating overall improvement in balance and strength.
We have a certified aquatic therapy instructor on staff providing close patient supervision and one-on-one instruction.
